AMERICAN RED CROSS: First Aid Services Team Intern


Internship Position Description


American Red Cross Central/Southeast Ohio


 

 

Internship Title:             

 

Purpose

To assist the American Red Cross and the First Aid Services Team with the management of volunteers and delivery of high quality services.
 
Key Responsibilities
§  Willingness to serve the mission of the American Red Cross
§  Work with the FAST Coordinator and Volunteer Resources to strategize recruitment of students (students involved in the Health Sciences Program, School of Nursing, Pre-Medicine program, etc.) for the First Aid Services Team. Conduct recruitment presentations from time to time while maintaining relationships with campus departments, first-year experience programs, academic advisors, etc.
§  Follow up  with newer volunteers to make sure they are having positive experiences and relay questions, comments, or concerns to the FAST Coordinator
§  Follow up with one time volunteers to see if they are interested in other volunteer opportunities
§  Monitor and manage Volunteer Connection website including scheduling duties, Groupshare interactions, and file maintenance
§  Manage the scheduling of volunteers into training classes such as RTE and EMR
§  Maintain equipment and supply inventories and perform equipment restocks as needed
§  Assist with program’s social media presence on Facebook and Twitter
§  Will meet periodically to discuss goals, status of program, and other issues that may arise
 
Reports To
First Aid Services Coordinator
 
Time Commitment
15-30 hours per week
 
Length of Appointment
Fall/Spring Semester (Summer Semester, if applicable)
 
Qualifications
§  An interest in working with people of varying backgrounds
§  Ability to work independently and with little direction
§  Willingness to access professional resources, internal and external to the organization
§  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
§  Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Access)
§  Strong organization skills
§  Good time managements skills
§  Problem solving ability
§  Possess a strong, healthy work ethic
§  Ability to work within given deadlines
§  Member of the First Aid Services Team for at least 1 Year
 
Training
On-the-Job training to be provided by FAST Coordinator
 
Relationships
Receives primary work direction from First Aid Services Coordinator; may also collaborate with other employees and other volunteer staff, as needed.
 
Budget Support
All training, materials, workspaces and/or any other equipment deemed necessary to perform the duties of the position would be provided by the American Red Cross
