*Job Description:Come work as part of the translational research team at the Center for Injury Research and Policy at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, where we take injury research out of academic journals and into the community. Gain valuable experience in a nonprofit organization and a greater understanding of public health communications and promotion. This internship is unpaid but offers flexible hours (10-40 hours per week depending upon the student’s schedule). Start and end dates are also flexible.

We give interns many opportunities to contribute, such as

• Assisting in the development of health education materials related to pediatric injury prevention.
• Researching innovative methods of health promotion.
• Learning how to apply behavioral theory in project design.
• Assisting with photo and video shoots.

Internship Position Description

Position Title: Special Events (Intern), Financial Development

Purpose

Assist with sponsor proposal development and production, manage solicitation processes and coordinate benefits fulfillment for sponsors of multiple projects, with primary focus on fundraising events.  Under supervision of Special Events Coordinator work to help coordinate logistics of events as needed.
Key Responsibilities
  • Input data, corrections and other pertinent updates in project databases
  • Collect, organize, input and ensure accuracy of all registration information from participating sponsors and/or individuals for respective projects
  • Use Microsoft Mail Merge functions to produce correspondence, status reports and registration lists.
  • Assist with staffing and coordination of meetings and events
  • Provide assistance with other department projects as required.
  • Help set-up and manage silent auction portion of Golf Classic (Summer only) including, coordinating solicitation mailing, following up with those solicited, tracking incoming items, putting packages together, creating signage and day of marketing.

Purpose

Provide assistance to the Major Gifts Officer, who is responsible for making and cultivating relationships for individual and private foundation donors.
Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct individual and private foundation research including potential and current donors
  • Write email correspondences for relationship cultivation with staff, donors, and prospects
  • Organize development meeting notes
  • Help create, edit, and proofread reports, mailings, letters, response, and thank you cards
  • Help set-up and facilitate the assembly of major gift mailings with staff
  • Track and organize incoming donations
  • Help organize gift and donor data on excel spreadsheets
  • Modify, edit, and create spreadsheets on donation amount and other data, as needed
