Job Title: Marketing and Event Planning Intern

New Albany based Buckeye Interactive is currently seeking candidates for a part-time, paid Marketing and Event Planning Intern. Buckeye Interactive is a young, energetic boutique interactive marketing firm providing web development, social media and other interactive marketing services to small businesses and organizations around the country. The internship start-date is between mid-May and mid- June, contingent upon candidate availability. American Red Cross Blood Services Central Ohio Region
Communications Intern, Communications Department

Purpose:
To assist the Communications Department of the American Red Cross Blood Services Central Ohio Region with various communications, public relations, writing, graphic design, and layout needs.

Key responsibilities:
· Assist department in various writing capacities
· Meet and interview blood donors and recipients and craft feature stories about them
· Write articles for regional newsletter
· Assist department in design of donor recruitment materials: i.e. brochures, fliers, posters, stuffers, etc.
· Assist in design of specific blood drive materials: i.e. coupons, table tents
· Take text provided to layout post cards or information pieces.
· Serve as photographer at events

Time Commitment:
Approximately 8 - 10 hours per week minimum (possibly more depending on work load and availability) for one full college quarter or semester, with the possibility of continuing beyond that time frame. Shift hours are mutually agreed upon, usually between the hours of 8:30 AM and 5:00PM, Monday through Friday.

Relationships:
· Reports to Manager, Communications for on-the-job training and supervision
· Close interaction with other paid and volunteer staff. Support could be provided to a variety of departments.

Qualifications:
· Dependable and responsible
· Communications/Public Relations, Journalism, English, Strategic Communications, Graphic Arts, or Visual Communications major or equivalent preferred
· Excellent writing skills
· Understanding of key messaging structures
· Excellent graphic design skills
· Understanding of key graphic design programs: Adobe InDesign, PhotoShop
· Ability to work independently
· Various office skills necessary

Assists the Ohio Department of Natural Resource’s (ODNR) fair coordinator with activities relating to the Natural Resources Park prior to, during and after the Ohio State Fair (e.g., amphitheater scheduling, park set up and tear down, media events, promotional efforts, public inquiries, & other public relations activities as directed); attends the Department’s State Fair Committee meetings; works with the other ODNR Divisions/Offices regarding state fair activities; assists the Office of Communications with activities related to marketing, media relations, art & design and photography; performs other duties as assigned relating to the Ohio State Fair.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ODNR, Office of Communications, is looking for an individual currently enrolled in college and working towards a degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, or Public Relations.Applicants must be currently enrolled in college and must not have a graduation date prior to August 13, 2011.If selected for an interview, applicants will be required to provide a current class schedule along with a progress report (unoffical transcript).
Supplemental Information:
