MY OWN ROOM: MARKETING INTERNSHIP

Marketing & Advertising Internship

Objective:
My Own Room is a family owned and operated independent nursery and children’s furniture retailer serving the Greater Columbus, OH area since 1995.  Focusing exclusively on nursery furniture and kid’s bedroom furniture we offer the largest selection of furniture in central Ohio. 

The selected candidate will be responsible for assisting and supporting My Own Room’s marketing and advertising efforts through a variety of initiatives.

Job Functions & Responsibilities:
Ø  identify local centers of influence and explore opportunities for cross promotion
Ø  Identify local events and create a marketing opportunity calendar
Ø  Social Media
o   Research various social media platforms to help identify best practices for each
o   Assist with social media engagement
o   Monitor social media and website analytics on a weekly basis and report on effectiveness of engagements, growth and trends
Ø  Assist in coordinating various marketing methods including digital, radio, direct mail, social media, email, etc. and developing new methods of marketing
Ø  Engage with marketing team on a regular basis to brainstorm ideas for new and innovative marketing and social media campaigns
Ø  Identify and research competition and industry specific sites (blogs, forums, etc.) to ascertain relevant marketing information
Ø  Organize and maintain marketing program files

Qualifications:
Ø  Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ø  Knowledge and experience with various social media channels including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Pinterest, YouTube and Instagram
Ø  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ø  Be responsible, hardworking, dedicated and ethical
Ø  Basic computer processing skills including Microsoft Office Suite

Compensation: 
This is an unpaid position.  There is opportunity for school credit if allowed by the college/university of the applicant.  The position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands on experience on various marketing & advertising initiatives.

Time:
This is a part-time internship requiring a minimum of 8 hours per week throughout the Winter Semester.
