Corporate Communications Intern
 
Fahlgren Mortine, one of the nation’s top independent marketing and communications agencies, is looking for a talented Corporate Communications Intern for our Columbus office.
 
The internship will provide a post-graduate candidate with the opportunity to gain experience working in a fast-paced integrated marketing and communications firm.Under the mentorship and direction of the Corporate Communications Manager, the intern will be responsible for supporting the coordination of new business efforts, agency marketing activity and internal communications and events.
 
This internship is a full-time position, and is anticipated to begin January 2014 and continue through March 2014.
 
Specific responsibilities may include:
 
-        Writes and updates associate biographies and client case studies for prospect proposals, as well as any other support that may include close proofreading, as well as proposal and presentation assembly and delivery
-        Writes news releases, awards entries, media pitches and agency backgrounders with the goal of securing earned media coverage of the agency and its leaders
-        Monitors proactive and reactive media relations and social media opportunities for the agency, which may include monitoring competitors, coordinating outreach and managing agency blog posts developed in WordPress
-        Works with team members to develop and manage the agency marketing plan and calendar
-        Manages and organizes agency client and prospect databases
-        Archives agency information, awards and milestones
-        Measures and compiles reports on the Corporate Communications team’s progress
-        Proactively monitors competitive trends, websites and marketing outreach in trade publications
-        Supports internal communications tactics which may include quarterly agency meeting preparations and other regular associate gatherings
 
Qualification, experience and education:
 
-        Previous internship experience is preferred
-        Excellent writing ability (AP style is preferred)
-        Excellent proofreading skills
-        High level of attention to detail
-        Previous coursework or internship experience in
o   Media relations
o   Reporting, tracking and archiving
o   Online research
o   Presentation development
-        Must be highly proficient in Microsoft Office; proficiency in Adobe InDesign, WordPress and Photoshop is a plus
-        Excellent time and project management skills, and management of various deadlines and schedules
-        Must be a team player and collaborate with individuals from a wide variety of professional disciplines
-        Demonstrates a passion for collaboration and intellectual curiosity of business challenges
-        Ability to take initiative and assume responsibility
-        Bachelor’s degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, communications, English, advertising or related fields

Fahlgren Mortine, one of the nation’s top independent marketing and communications agencies, is looking for a talented public relations intern for our Columbus office.
 
The internship will provide a college junior or senior with the opportunity to gain experience working in an integrated marketing and communications firm.
 
Specific internship responsibilities may include:
 
-        Conducts new business and client research
-        Develops media lists, blogger lists, editorial calendars and media results reports
-        Participates in both internal team and client meetings
-        Writes news releases, website copy, fact sheets, collateral, social media content and other materials
-        Conducts social media research and audits
-        Coordinates collateral projects, including invitations, letterhead and brochures
-        Interacts with local, trade and national media, when appropriate
 
Other opportunities for professional growth:
 
-        Exposure to a broad agency setting with public affairs, advertising, strategic planning, marketing, media, and digital/interactive disciplines
-        Opportunity to tailor existing internship program to meet individual needs

Qualifications and experience:
                                                                  
-        Strong research, organizational and writing skills
-        A proven understanding of public relations, social media and online and traditional media, including AP Style
-        A positive attitude, talent and drive
-        The ability to work independently and in team settings
-        Prior internship experience in public relations, communications and journalism is also a plus.
 
Students with PR experience are encouraged to apply for a 10-12 week program, which will begin in January 2014.
