US Educational Group Communications Internship

About US Educational Group:
USEG assists universities and colleges in the United States with international student
recruitment, specifically focusing on the Middle East, North Africa and Eurasia. Our studentcentric website and print magazine, Al Jamiat Magazine (www.al-jamiat.com), targets students with original content and assistance with the college application process.

There are 2 internship openings.
Internship work will include:
• Media Relations: Creating media lists, PR lists, pitching stories to college/university
newspapers, connecting directly with international newspapers/radio stations for event
coverage
• Writing: Press releases, short posts for website, newsletter articles, editing articles
• Project management: Creating tracking documents, time management, planning and
scheduling
• Public Relations: Client interaction, responding to questions and requests for
information, leveraging established relationships to drive coverage, building new
relationships with partner companies, colleges and universities
• Event Planning: Conference planning assistance, PR and direct marketing for events
• Online Marketing: Search engine optimization, search engine marketing, social media
leverage
Timing:
• Resumes accepted through May 15, candidate will be selected by May 30
• 5-15 hours weekly
• Length: June-August/September 2009 (Potential to extend internship through December)
• Could lead to a part-time, year-around position
Required Skills:
• College Junior, Senior or Graduate Student
• Recent graduates
• Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or similar major
• Excellent verbal and communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Must have personal computer/laptop
• Ability to prioritize job responsibilities and manage time effectively
• Preference given to students with study abroad or international experience
• Preference given to students with previous internship or work experience
Compensation:
• Stipend: $150 paid in June and $150 paid in August
• Opportunity for end-of-internship bonus
• Opportunity for internship extension through December
• Course credit for school
This is the ideal opportunity for a student who needs internship experience with a flexible
schedule. Candidates will meet directly with Wassan Humadi, Managing Editor of Al Jamiat twice a week in the German Village office and work on most assignments on their own time. Additional connecting will be made via phone and email.
