I am hoping that you are able to help us find a few journalism students for several open fall internship positions at The Delaware Gazette/The Sunbury News (Delaware County).
I understand it is quite late in the game to be looking for fall interns, however due to various circumstances, we were unable to open the program until now.
We are seeking interns who are interested in sports reporting and are holding an open meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesdayat our offices, 40 N. Sandusky St., to meet with potential interns and conduct open interviews.
The requirements:
- Must be a student currently enrolled in a college or university
- Must have basic news writing skills
- Must have basic photography skills
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must be adept at social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
- Be flexible enough to transition into news from sports if necessary for an assignment
The job:
- Cover Delaware County high school sports with game/event coverage, enterprise pieces and other assignments per the assigning editors
- Attend high school events/games as assigned by the editor
- Take action photos at games/events
- Work with the assigning editors to learn sports reporting/photography
- Meet deadlines as set by the editors
This is an unpaid internship. As such, I am willing to work with you in helping students earn credits should your program allow internships for credit.
We will be selecting up to four interns for our sports desk.
Regards,
Stacy Kess
