Editorial Intern
Position Title: Research and Editorial Associate
Location: Varies
Length: Semester/Quarter – negotiable
Hours: Varies; the ideal number of weekly hours is 15 to 20 hours per week
Position Type: Unpaid Internship (can provide verification for course credit)
Position Summary: To conduct research and assist with the editing of content of The Women’s Book’s
publications and Web sites.
Required Experience and Skills:
- 1-2 years of book, periodical and Internet research
- 1-2 years of copy editing experience
- Excellent organizational skills
- Detail oriented and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Access
- Possess a confident yet pleasant manner when dealing with people at all levels
- Self-starter and ability to work in a dynamic work environment
- Strong passion about women and girl’s empowerment issues
Additional Requirements: This position requires an individual to work independently and out of their
own office or home. A personal computer and Internet access is required.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Research: Conduct requested research about women’s issues, demographic data, local women’s
history and other factsfor inclusion on The Women’s Book’s Website and print publications
• Copy Editing: Assist with the proofing and making necessary corrections to online and printed
copy
• Copy Writing: Assist with the development of copy for The Women’s Book’s Website and print
publications.
• Status Reports: Participate in weekly status report calls and/or planning meetings with the
assigned supervisor.
• Other related duties that will be agreed to with the assigned supervisor
