PUBLIC RELATIONS INTERN
Description
Ohio Humanities Council (OHC), an independent nonprofit cultural organization, is looking
for an intern interested in learning all aspects of the public relations field.  The person in this
position will assist with projects that promote and increase awareness of OHC.  The ideal
applicant will have:
• Solid understanding of the humanities
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Strong work ethic
• Experience with social media
• Attention to detail
• Positive attitude, flexibility, and problem solving skills
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframe
Responsibilities
• Monitor all forms of media
• Plan and assist with a variety of online and offline marketing projects
• Provide copywriting support, which may include writing press releases, blogs, and content
for e-newsletter
• Write effective copy, excelling in correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar
• Search for press clippings and sponsorship information
• Create social media pages and regularly add fresh content
Requirements
Students applying for this internship must have excellent written and verbal communication
skills and should be majoring in Public Relations, Communications, English, Marketing,
Journalism, or a Humanities discipline.  Applicants should have an appreciation of the
humanities, as well as a solid understanding of social media. 
Although s/he will regularly meet with OHC staff, the candidate must have his/her own
computer and internet access for some virtual work.  This position will be a commitment
of approximately 10-15 hours per week, and will be reimbursed at the rate of the federally
mandated minimum wage.
