LOWER LIGHTS MINISTRIES: Comm


Lower Lights Ministries Development Intern

(8-12 hours/week)

 

The Development Intern must be at least a Junior (3 years+ of higher education) with an interest in nonprofit organizations. The student must be a skilled writer and communicator. Web-building and design skills preferred. The Assistant will be responsible primarily for Grants research and writing which includes a thorough understanding of Lower Lights Ministries’ programs (5-10 hours/week). Secondarily, the intern will be a communications assistant, writing copy for social media interaction; email communication and web development (2-5 hours/week). No coding skills necessary. Some administrative work may be required. The minimum time commitment is 4 months (1 semester).

Specific duties include:

 

GRANTS/FOUNDATIONS (5-10 hours/week)

1.    Research foundation prospects and application details (1-2/wk)

2.    Research for master grant proposals, i.e. gather academic/professional research related to our program areas (1-2/wk)

3.    Write grants (2-5/wk)

4.    Compile Program data and write Grant Reports (1/wk according to report dates)

 

COMMUNICATIONS (approximately 5 hours/week)

1.    Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, blog coordination (1/wk)

2.    Constant Contact e-communication (1/wk)

3.    Collect LLM stories for blog posts and misc. use (1/wk)

4.    Web content development (1/wk)

5.    Graphic Design/Branding (1/wk)

 

 

Some administrative work may also be required of the intern including:

ADMINISTRATIVE (3-8 hours/week)

1.    Aid in preparing donor mailings, writing follows (1/wk)

2.    Data entry in relationship management database (1-3/wk)

3.    Coordinate mailings (varies per mailing)

a.    Events

b.    Special Mailings

4.    Events administration (5-15/quarter)

a.    Identify and follow up with new donors

b.    Silent Auction administration

 
Additional information regarding the stipend for the Lower Lights
Development Intern is below. Lower Lights will be attending our NP Job
& Internship Fair on Feb. 19th, so please encourage any interested
students to meet attend.

Concerning the stipend:
Housing is available for the Intern; if housing is not utilized, a
stipend will be earned ($1000-1500 depending on hours worked) after
the 4 months of the internship. Students who utilize housing will be
expected to commit a minimum of 12 hours a week working at Lower
Lights Ministries.
