Internship Overview:
The AICUO Art Awards Coordinator position is a year long internship provided by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio (AICUO). Each year, AICUO hires a rising senior to coordinate the EVAs Awards and the program's surrounding projects. The intern will gain experience with networking, communications, grant writing, non-profit work, event planning, and will participate with visual art communities across Ohio. The AICUO Art Awards Coordinator plans a senior competition, contests, high school visitations, gallery exhibitions, end of the year awards reception, and works with thirty-four art departments from the member institutions of AICUO.
The Internship will include:
-year-long internship, with an hourly wage of $9.00/hour at 16 hours a week
-planning a year-long competition, awards reception, and gallery exhibitions
-working with 34 institutional art departments, contacting students, faculty, and alumni
-working with gallery owners, local businesses, and artists from all over Ohio
-applying for grants, fundraising, sponsorships
-experience with a non-profit organization, communications, marketing, event planning, and visual arts
-Web design, online networking, graphic design, and journalism/blog material
Qualifications
-transportation and time to work at the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Ohio office, located in downtown Columbus.
-experience with event planning, writing, design and/or fundraising
-knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Office
-interest/knowledge in the visual arts
-capable of communicating with art department faculty, large corporations, and a strong writing/academic essay background
-creativity
-some experience with creating and following a budget
Some of the activities the Art Awards Coordinator will be responsible for:
-updating website and blog for the competition
-contacting art departments, faculty, Ohio artists
-contacting businesses for sponsorship, arranging meetings
-researching, writing, and submitting grants
-contacting local high schools, visiting students, arranging artist visits and portfolio reviews
-coordinating gallery exhibits
-working with college art students, sculptors, and designers
-attending meetings, luncheons
-designing posters, brochures, invitations for competition
