community? Want to connect to those in need in your community and learn about the nonprofit
industry and community in Columbus?
As a Marketing & Communication Intern for Community Shares of Mid Ohio, you’ll be able to work with over 60 different nonprofits in the Columbus and central Ohio area. Learn about different issue areas and causes including hunger, homelessness, violence prevention, education, environmental protection, social justice, and more.
As an intern you’ll assist the Community Relations Director in drafting, creating, and distributing content from the member organizations through an e-newsletter, website, social media, press releases and work with local media. Necessary skills include writing, researching, flexibility, self-starting,
multi-tasking, well-organized and willing to learn new skills as needed. Additional skills and
expectations are listed below.
The Marketing Intern will work with and under the direct supervision of the Community Relations
Director . Responsibilities include:
Assist With Content Development:
• Donor e-newsletter
• Blogs, videos, photos for website
• Press Releases
• Social media (Facebook, Linked In, Twitter)
Marketing Duties
• Implement a social media plan
• Review materials for workplace giving campaigns
• Provide support for workplace giving campaigns
• Implement an editorial calendar for online content & media pitches
• Assist with planning and executing an event at the Ohio State University
*Qualifications: Required Skills:
• Very good writing skills
• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations or Journalism
• Internet research skills
• Some technical proficiency
• Able to successfully multi-task
• Flexibility and willingness to take on new challenges
• Self-starter
