Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau Social Media Intern April, 2011 Position Social Media Intern Status Part time/Flexible Summary The position is responsible for supporting the organization’s social media initiatives, including the planning, execution and activation of social media campaigns and tactics. This position is primarily responsible for creating awareness of the Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival by designing and maintaining viral social networking campaigns on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Flickr. Duties & Responsibilities · Assist in building social networking presence (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, blogs, community platforms, etc.) · Assist in creating and managing online marketing campaigns · Create, maintain and engage with the public via program specific social networking pages and/or blog sites · Develop forward-thinking strategies for penetrating social networking opportunities · Monitor commentary regarding the organization and the festival on online social networks, blogs and forums · Stay current with social media trends, issues and opportunities. · Be a key marketing resource in order to effectively leverage dynamic social media resources · Ensure all social media content is consistent, relevant, professional and aligns with the message of Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau and the Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival · Take photos and create videos as assigned to post on social media networks · Support PR efforts · Generate enthusiasm and excitement towards visiting Gahanna and the Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival Qualifications · Obtained or currently working towards a BS/BA degree in journalism, communications, or closely related field · Excellent oral and written communication skills · Advanced knowledge of social media technologies, tools and capabilities · Proficient with Microsoft Office · Ability to work independently with poise and professionalism · Minimum GPA of 3.0 Length/Availability · Flexible · The Creekside Blues & Jazz Festival will be held in Gahanna, June 17-19, 2011. Ideally, the candidate would be available February/March through the event date in June or longer. The Gahanna Convention & Visitors Bureau will continue to have a need for the social media intern position beyond the Festival. Compensation Internship is unpaid, but provides valuable experience and may qualify for earned credit(s).
