Summer 2011 Governmental Affairs Internship
The Ohio Society of CPAs


Location: Dublin, Ohio
Length: Mid-May through June, maximum 20 hours per week
Pay scale: $10.00/hr

Are you in the market to gain solid writing and real-world governmental affairs and communications experience? The Ohio Society of CPAs, a nationally-recognized professional organization serving certified public accountants, is accepting resumes for a paid summer internship of up to 20 hours per week.

We serve as a primary lobbying and communications source for over 22,000 CPAs working in Ohio’s leading businesses and public accounting firms.

Objective:

The program is designed to give students practical research and writing experience, project management skills and the ability to gain experience with a leading and very politically active Ohio association.

OSCPA offers interns a fast-paced, professional environment and challenging work that includes monitoring developing state and federal legislative issues, managing related projects and writing legislative news for OSCPA publications.

Intern Learning Opportunities:

Be directly involved in the legislative process: monitor legislative and regulatory issues of concern at both the state and federal.
Write articles for various OSCPA publications, issue briefs and other communications resources as needed – which can help build a portfolio for future career or internship opportunities.
Gain fundraising experience by assisting with organization of the Ohio CPA/PAC Silent Auction, OSCPA’s major fundraising event of the year.
Opportunities to participate in legislative meetings and hearings.

Timeline:
The internship is available from mid-May until late June, possibly early July. Specific beginning and ending dates are negotiable, and hours worked each week are negotiable.

Requirements:

Candidates must be a college student majoring in a relevant field of study and should demonstrate strong writing and communications skills. Prior political volunteer or relevant experience a plus.

Only enthusiastic, self-starters need apply.
