Summary of Duties
Under the direction of the assistant director, writes, edits, and proofs educational materials for the Ohio Sea Grant program including fact sheets, displays, promotional materials, and program web sites; serves as writer for program’s magazine, Twine Line; researches topics; conducts interviews; creates and writes science articles; develops and coordinates graphic designs with designer and print vendors; creates and implements strategies to increase awareness of the programs achievements through writing, editing and disseminating of news releases, media advisories, and feature stores; develops marketing campaign and student recruitment materials for Stone Laboratory; collaborates with program extension agents to develop Lake Erie education and workshop material; coordinates program media efforts with radio, TV, print, and electronic media; maintains electronic archives of communications publications.

Requires successful completion of a background check.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in science, natural resources, journalism, or communications or an equivalent combination of education and experience; two-four years experience in science writing and developing news stories for newspapers, magazines or online media; knowledge of photography, graphic design, and printing; strong organizational and customer service skills.
Desired Qualifications
One year of experience writing publicity materials.

$33,000 - $39,000 Annually
