TRAINING: WRITING

Communications and Training Intern at Brickman Facility Solutions
Brickman Facility Solutions (BFS) is looking for two (2) Communications and Training Interns to assist in developing the technical documentation and training program in its newly developed Information Management System (IMS) team. These are paid internships beginning as soon as we find the right candidates and ending mid-June, 2012. The Interns will work up to 20 hours per week in our corporate office throughout the internship term during normal working hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
The IMS group is responsible for the full life cycle of IT software development/delivery for BFS in a growing, fast paced, flexible environment. Applications include ERP, IVR, GPS, Business Intelligence, and web portals for the facilities services industry. IMS works in a fast-paced, flexible, team environment.
Each ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal), an excellent grasp of English grammar, an appetite for learning, a desire to exceed expectations, an ability to listen and move beyond simply what they are told by SMEs, and will have reliable transportation for commuting to work.
Intern Learning Opportunities Include:
• Writing technical documentation.
• Developing instructor-led training materials.
• Creating e-learning modules.
• Designing and developing templates for documents and presentations.
• Presenting material graphically and in text.
• Interviewing subject matter experts to gather information.
• Starting projects from scratch and revising existing projects.
• Learning about the documentation and training cycles of a corporation.
• Developing editing and proofreading skills.
· Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Assists in the writing and editing of technical documentation for a variety of computer systems and portals for employees, customers, and service providers.
• Assists in the development of instructor-led materials and e-learning modules for employees, customers, and service providers.
• Interviews subject matter experts to gathering information and clarify information for use in writing documentation and develop materials and presentations.
• Assists in presenting instructor-led training sessions.
• Maintains accurate reporting of work products completed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience Required:
• Must be a junior or senior-level student currently enrolled in a 4-year degree program or master’s degree program to be considered.
• Must be majoring in communications, technical communications, journalism, business, human resources, or English.
• Must provide portfolio of writing (and graphical work if available) to be considered.
• Must have the recommendation of at least one communication professor attesting to the candidate’s abilities as a writer and student.
• Excellent organizational skills
• Proficient use of Microsoft Office.
